Privacy Policy — KDP Keywords

KDP Keywords is made by one person. This policy describes every piece of data the extension handles, where it goes, and who else can see it. It covers the extension only.

The short version. There is no server of ours. Your searches go straight from your browser to Amazon and nowhere else. We run no analytics and have no account system. The only personal data anywhere in this product is the email address you give if you choose to pay, and it is handled by our payment providers, never by us. Use the free tool and nothing about you is collected at all.

1. Data we collect ourselves

None. We operate no server, no database and no analytics. There is nowhere for your data to be sent to us, so none of it is. We cannot see what you search for, how often you use the extension, or whether you use it at all.

2. Data stored on your own device

The extension saves the following in your browser's extension storage so it works the way you left it. It stays on your machine and is not transmitted to us:

Your last search term, category, and search depth
Your last set of results, and any competition numbers already looked up
Saved keyword lists you create
Your keyword Board
Interface preferences — panel size, detached-window position and size
A count of how many free competition checks you have used

You can erase all of it at any time by removing the extension.

3. Data sent to Amazon

The extension is a tool for querying Amazon, so your search terms are sent to Amazon. That is the product working as described. There are two distinct cases, and the difference matters:

Amazon's own privacy notice governs what Amazon does with either. Permission to read www.amazon.com is not requested at install — the extension asks for it at the moment you first use competition depth, and never if you don't.

4. Data involved in paying

Payment is handled entirely by ExtensionPay and Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Your email address is collected by ExtensionPay so your purchase can be recognised on this and any other computer you use.
Your payment details go directly to Stripe. They do not pass through the extension.
An anonymous identifier is created for your installation so ExtensionPay can tell whether you have paid. It contains nothing about you and no search data.

If you never open the paid unlock, none of this happens. The identifier above is created at the moment you first open the payment page — not at install. A user who only ever uses the free tool makes no request to ExtensionPay at all, and no identifier for them exists. ExtensionPay puts it the same way: “Users are anonymous until they pay.”

That identifier is stored using Chrome's synchronised extension storage, which means Chrome may copy it between computers where you are signed in to the same Chrome profile. That is how a purchase follows you to another machine.

5. Everyone your data is shared with

This is the complete list. There are no others.

6. What we never do

We do not sell or rent your data. There is no data to sell.
We do not use or transfer your data for anything unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
We do not show advertising, and we include no advertising or analytics trackers.
We do not read your browsing history, your open tabs, or any website other than the Amazon addresses named above.

7. Children

KDP Keywords is a tool for people publishing books commercially. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

If the extension's handling of data ever changes, this page is updated before the change ships, and the effective date above changes with it.
